Ramp up of DSO campaign

Today it was announced by Pat Rabbitte, Minister for Communications that each home is to receive a booklet (PDF)< explaining the options available to viewers come the 24th October when the analogue transmissions are ceased. Whilst this booklet is welcome, I hope that people who are still confused will have a clearer picture of what is happening, but I suspect that this leaflet will dumped like a referendum commission document or as another piece of junk mail. Its been clear that since the appearance of the "X 24 OCTOBER" dog on analogue screens in recent weeks, that it has alerted people, at the very least, that October is coming, but that something is happening that day!

RTE are pushing Saorview, due to the summer of sport that RTE TWO HD is showing, and that is a clear driver for an early uptake of Saorview. But in the latest campaigns "Tommy and PJ" have taken a back seat, and RTE have used Ryan Tubridy to force the message a bit clearer than before now. But then, old Uncle Gaybo is promoting the Department of Communications message to "be ready to go digital". On top of that, expect even more ads from Sky and UPC promoting their own services.

Still confused? Sometimes too much information is a bad thing.
